Dr. Cueva has been a licensed doctor for 24 years and a board-certified and licensed surgeon for 19 years. He graduated top of his class from medical school and from his general surgery residency. Dr. Cueva has been performing bariatric surgeries for more than 14 years, having done more than 5000 successful bariatric and metabolic procedures. His expertise extends to other areas of general surgery like abdominal, digestive, endocrine and trauma. 

 

Professorship

He has been a professor for Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, where he taught the subject of introduction to surgical techniques.

Dr. Antonio Cueva is the former medical director and chief surgeon of Centro Medico Florence in the city of Tijuana, and vice president of the College of Surgeons of Tijuana. Today, Dr. Cueva also works as a staff surgeon for different government Hospitals in the city of Tijuana and is an active member of different medical colleges.  

 

Continuous education

To date, has attend more than 30 national and international congresses, symposiums, courses, trainings and workshops in different countries, many of them related to bariatric surgery and care.

 

Also a Bariatric patient

Dr. Cueva has had the same surgery he preforms. This enables him to empathize with what patients go through when they decide to have bariatric surgery. He had gastric sleeve surgery in 2007, lost 60 pounds, and got his blood pressure and glucose levels back to normal at an early age.
